The reason why Mr. Trump is still strongly supported despite his legal troubles

(Dan Tri) – Supporters of former President Donald Trump appreciate his achievements while in power and are willing to vote for him in this year’s election, even though he has many legal troubles.

Iowa officials said the weather in the area has been `dangerously cold` in recent days, with temperatures dropping to their lowest levels after days of snowfall.

However, the harsh weather did not stop hundreds of people from pouring out to meet former President Donald Trump on January 14 in Indianola, a small town south of Des Moines, the capital of Iowa.

The day before the Iowa caucuses, they wore hats and shirts with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) slogan at Mr. Trump’s campaign event.

Mr. Trump won 51% of the votes in the vote in Iowa on January 15, far surpassing his opponents including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

George Hutton, a Trump supporter in Madison County, said that Trump’s Republican opponents were `wasting their time`.

`I think Mr. Trump will win more overwhelmingly than they estimate,` Mr. Hutton said, referring to the Iowa race.

During a campaign event in Iowa, participants stood for 15 minutes in the terrible cold in a long line outside the community college where Mr. Trump spoke.

When voting began on January 15 in Iowa, the question was not whether Mr. Trump would win, but by what percentage of the vote.

Economic problem

While for many Americans, Mr. Trump’s years in office are associated with chaos and inflammatory statements, the former president’s supporters always highlight his time in office.

Supporters of former President Trump interviewed by Al Jazeera news agency cited three main reasons why they support him: the economy, immigration issues and global instability.

President Joe Biden’s administration claims the U.S. economy is `strong,` highlighting low unemployment, strong growth and investment in infrastructure, while noting devastating inflation

However, Trump voters pointed to their own economic hardships as well as high interest rates to paint a different picture of the economy.

`We need something different than what we’re doing now. It’s not working. That says a lot about where the economy is at,` said David Brunell, 32, an advocate

The question is why don’t voters consider Mr. Trump’s other opponents in the Republican party?

`We just want our country back. We want our country back to what it was when he was president and better,` Hutton said.

Brunell seems to agree with the above point of view.

Foreign affairs

Although foreign policy has rarely been a top issue in recent US elections, some Trump supporters have referred to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza as the result of poor policies.

When he was president, Mr. Trump was very supportive of Israel.

President Biden has made a similar commitment to Israel.

Congressman Jim Jordan once said that the war in Ukraine would not have happened if Mr. Trump was president.

`We went from President Trump, who showed strength around the world, to Joe Biden,` congressman Jordan said.

Blaine Melvin, a groundskeeper at a local university, lamented the state of the world and America under President Biden.

`This is the closest I’ve ever seen to World War Three,` Melvin warned.

President Biden’s administration last week ordered a military strike against Houthi targets in Yemen after the group continued to attack ships linked to Israel, demanding that Israel end the war.

While in power, Mr. Trump also promoted tough policies in the Middle East.

A group of Republican voters, who have become increasingly skeptical of US military intervention abroad after the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, have so far supported Mr Trump.

Immigration issue

Since first announcing his candidacy for president in 2015, Mr. Trump has put immigration in his sights, sometimes using tough language aimed at immigrants.

The number of people arriving at the US southern border has skyrocketed, including more than 2 million people last year.

President Biden has also tried to limit illegal immigration, despite criticism from immigrant rights groups and progressives.

`He’s a strong leader. He’s tightened our borders,` Bob Snyder, a Des Moines resident, said of Mr. Trump.

On January 14, Mr. Trump continued to emphasize restricting migration and efforts to build a border wall with Mexico.

President Biden’s administration is also seeking to portray Mr. Trump as a threat to American democracy, accusing him of trying to overturn the 2020 election results.

However, supporters of the leading Republican candidate believe that the current administration is the real threat to democracy.

`The indictments are false,` Snyder said.

Mr. Trump is facing criminal charges over his efforts to overturn the 2020 voting results. However, these cases do not seem to mean much to his supporters.

At a campaign event before voting day in Iowa, Mr. Trump spoke for 1 hour and 40 minutes, switching between topics – from immigration to foreign policy, economics to personal anecdotes – collecting

When asked what he likes about Mr. Trump, Evan Walker, 18, who is voting for the first time, said: `I like his personality more, he knows what he’s doing. He’s very
