`Today, Ukraine’s survival is in jeopardy and America’s security is in jeopardy. Today I leave here fully determined to continue to maintain America’s munitions and security assistance for

However, the Pentagon boss did not specify how Washington would support Ukraine if Congress did not approve additional budget.

Previously, Mr. Austin chaired a meeting of more than 50 defense leaders from Europe and other parts of the world that took place at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

`The United States will not let Ukraine fail. We remain determined to provide Ukraine with the necessary resources to fight Russian forces,` the Pentagon chief declared.

The US is by far the largest security aid provider to Ukraine, pledging tens of billions of dollars to Kiev since the outbreak of hostilities in February 2022.

Last week, US President Joe Biden’s administration announced $300 million in assistance for Ukraine last week, but Secretary Austin said to get that amount of money, Washington had to save from recent purchases.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday called on allies to provide more air defense system aid in the context of Russia launching more than 130 missiles, 320 drones and about 900 guided bombs to attack Ukrainian targets.

US officials say that the lack of aid has affected the situation on the Ukrainian battlefield and that the Ukrainian army is having to manage with extremely limited resources.

However, according to Rachel Rizzo, senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center in Washington, Mr Austin’s call faced skepticism in Europe `because of its message of financial commitment`.

On the European side, at a joint press conference last weekend, German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister reaffirmed their support for Ukraine.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius yesterday announced an aid package of more than 542 million USD for Kiev.

However, US officials emphasized the fact that, without the US, European support is not enough to help Ukraine deal with Russia.
