(Dan Tri) – Compared to May, Kia Seltos’ sales growth nearly doubled, but if accumulated from the beginning of 2023, there is still a significant gap with Hyundai Creta.
Since being surpassed by Hyundai Creta in June 2022, Kia Seltos has had a continuous decline in sales, only being able to stay in 2nd place in the B-sized urban SUV segment. It is thought that it will be difficult to regain its position.

According to data compiled by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and TC Motor, the Kia Seltos sold 803 cars in June, an increase of 78% compared to the previous month.
Sales of Hyundai Creta also grew but at 31.5%, reaching 655 units.
Seltos’ sales results even exceeded the B+ Toyota Corolla Cross crossover, but mainly because the sales of this Japanese car model dropped sharply by nearly 41% compared to May, reaching only 600 units.
Honda HR-V is still at the bottom of the segment, with June sales reaching 239 vehicles, down nearly 20%.

Experts say that the success of Kia Seltos mainly comes from Thaco adjusting the proposed retail price from May, reducing it by 50-70 million VND.
Compared to the Creta, the Kia Seltos does not have active safety technology, and some amenities are also inferior.
Toyota Corolla Cross has size B+ but is positioned by the manufacturer in a higher segment.
Kia Seltos’s victory in June was not enough to turn the situation around.
Particularly for car models such as MG ZS, Nissan Kicks and Volkswagen T-Cross, sales results are not announced.
Once the best-selling product in the B-sized urban SUV segment in the 2021-2022 period (if not counting the B+ Toyota Corolla Cross crossover), Kia Seltos’ sales have gradually decreased after TC Motor brought in the Hyundai Creta to replace it.
Experts say that if the Creta had not been launched late, the number 1 position in the B-SUV segment last year would not have belonged to the Seltos.
In the near future, the B-sized urban SUV segment will have the presence of VinFast VF 6. This electric SUV model has been introduced to Vietnamese customers within the framework of the Vietnamese brand’s electric vehicle exhibition, and is preparing to accept orders.
VinFast VF 6 has a maximum operating range of nearly 400km.
